Submission Guidelines

Effective: August 22, 2025

Status of Submissions

Right now, Blade and Banter Media Corp. is not accepting unsolicited submissions. Any unrequested pitches, manuscripts, or materials sent to us will be deleted unread or returned unopened. We encourage interested creators to follow our announcements via our .LOG blog and social media for updates on future open submission periods.

When submissions open, they will be exclusively accepted through our official portal, in the format outlined below. It might seem a bit official. That’s on purpose. While we love having fun and espouse a fairly casual environment as a team, we all understand that down to brass tacks, we are consummate professionals.

What We Are Looking For

(When Submissions Open)

Blade and Banter Media develops and publishes original, creator-driven properties across multiple formats:

  • Tabletop Games (role-playing games, board and card games)

  • Video Games (concept-stage through prototype-stage projects)

  • Intellectual Properties suitable for adaptation (novels, comics, audio drama, podcasts, etc.)

  • Original Concepts that have strong potential for cross-media expansion and merchandising opportunities

We are particularly drawn to:

  • Bold, imaginative settings with strong thematic identities

  • Genres: science fiction (especially space opera & cyberpunk), sword & sorcery, heroic fantasy, mythpunk, speculative punk aesthetics

  • Projects with clear commercial potential while preserving artistic distinctiveness

What We Are Not Looking For

Nothing wrong if this is your thing, we are just not the ones to properly, and with quality, handle them:

  • Material with copious gore, torture, trauma or erotica. We’re not set up to properly handle extreme themes. Nor do we take a ‘trauma first’ approach. Blade and Banter Media looks to create projects that extoll humanity, give a roadmap to redemption and highlight the rise of goodness, even in hard times. Some stories are too dark/mature for us to handle. Please submit those elsewhere.

  • Material exclusively for small children (the under 13 crowd). While we do dabble in games for pre-teens and adolescents, the majority of our time is spent on projects for older teens - adults.

  • Subs relying on AI generated or stock images. As a team with multiple artists, we’d rather see your ideas on art, sans images, than a bunch of unusable stock.

Submission Requirements

Every pitch package must contain all the following elements. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

  • One-Page Pitch Document (PDF only)

    • Project title and format (TTRPG, video game, IP adaptation, etc.)

    • Elevator pitch: 2–3 sentences explaining the hook

    • High-concept tagline (ex: “X meets Y in Z setting”)

    • Target audience and comparable works

    • Why your project fits Blade and Banter Media’s focus

  • Game Concept Document (GCD) or Equivalent

    • For games: 3–5 pages describing mechanics, playstyle, progression, and unique features

    • For adaptations: A 2–3 page overview of the property and how you imagine it translating into a game/media/merchandise line

    • Must demonstrate working knowledge of the genre and market

  • Professional Background

    • Brief bio of the creator(s)

    • Portfolio of past projects (links acceptable)

    • Social media / community following (size, platforms, engagement & examples of audience responsiveness)

    • Any relevant press coverage, Kickstarter/indie campaigns, published work or shipped games

  • Business & Rights Information

    • Confirmation that you own or control the rights to the submitted material, and that it is not encumbered by other contracts

    • For adaptations: proof of IP ownership or license-holder agreement

  • Optional Materials

    • Concept art, prototype materials, demo reels, or playtest documents (if available and professional quality)

    • These are not required but can strengthen a submission

Professional Standards

  • We do not accept AI-generated submissions. Any material generated wholly or substantially by AI tools without significant original human creative input will be rejected. We want to work with human people… unless your AI is Lieben… or Daedalus.AI from Wax Wing.

  • All documents must be in PDF format; no Word docs, Google Drive shares, or image-only submissions will be reviewed.

  • Submissions must be professional in tone and execution. Casual emails, incomplete pitches, or hobby-level ideas without development work will not be considered. We like fun, but we need to see professional-you, too.

  • Respect deadlines and formatting instructions; failure to do so signals lack of professionalism. If you miss Open Season, hold off. Submssions will open again.

Legal Acknowledgements

  • All submissions must include a signed Submission Release Form (TBD), acknowledging that Blade and Banter Media may already be developing projects with similar themes, and that sending materials does not create a partnership, employment, or compensation obligation unless a formal agreement is signed.

  • Do not send confidential or proprietary business plans without legal clearance.

  • By making a submission, you acknowledge your understanding of these terms.

Final Notes

Blade and Banter Media is committed to fostering original voices and supporting creators who show both vision and discipline. We are not a place for unfinished ideas scribbled on napkins: we want professional pitches that prove clear thought, craft, and commercial promise.

Submissions are currently closed. When we open, this is the roadmap for preparing your pitch. We encourage serious creators to begin developing their material in anticipation of future calls.
