Horror + Comedy

I'm Emily Armstrong, a media creator with roots in audio production and branches that extend into multiple creative mediums. I've always been curious about the spaces between things. The pause between notes in a melody, the moment before the jump scare, the thin line between comedy and horror.

I cut my teeth in audio engineering, music became my first language, production my second and visual media quickly followed as a natural extension. I've worked in studios where the equipment cost more than my apartment, and makeshift recording booths constructed from blankets and hope. Both taught me valuable lessons.

My work often explores the intersection of nostalgia and innovation, combining familiar elements in unfamiliar ways. I believe in creating media that respects its audience while still surprising them-whether that's through a perfectly timed audio cue, a striking visual transition, or a narrative twist that makes perfect sense in retrospect.

At Blade and Banter Media Corp, I'm one of the minds behind our projects. I aim to create media that genuinely connects with people, sparks a thought, a laugh, or even a shiver down the spine.

When I'm not working, you'll find me hunting for obscure vinyl records, playing indie games, or rewatching comfort horror films like Evil Dead 2 or Dead Alive that somehow manage to be simultaneously terrifying and hilarious. I have a soft spot for practical effects, synth-heavy soundtracks, and stories that blend the mundane with the supernatural.

Consider this your invitation to explore the the bold, the bizarre, and the beautifully built worlds of Blade and Banter Media Corp.

Building a brand image

When it came to shaping the look and feel of Blade and Banter Media, I really wanted to capture that unique blend we're all about – the sweet spot where classic storytelling meets a modern, almost futuristic edge. We think of it as a bit of a balancing act: the 'Blade' side needed that nod to timeless adventure and epic narratives, while the 'Banter' side brings in a more playful, approachable, and even cozy vibe.

So, I dove into inspirations that felt both nostalgic and forward-thinking, like mixing Rococo elegance with Vaporwave's dreamy futurism in our visuals and color palettes. The goal was to create an identity that feels both sophisticated and inviting, reflecting the diverse, narrative-driven experiences we love to create – something that hints at epic quests and chill hangouts all at once.
